Nigerian Air Force receives second batch of AW109 helicopters

21/01/2020 – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is about to take into service two more AW109 Power helicopters after they were delivered by air from Italy last week.

The two partially disassembled rotorcraft, along with equipment and spares, arrived at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja on board a Boeing 737-400 Cargolux Airline aircraft from Malpensa International Airport in Italy on 15 January 2020. 03/01/2020 – The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Thursday berated those asking IPOB to go through « appropriate channel » to secure Biafra, accusing them of being hypocrites.

Mazi KANU also alleged that the twelve Northern States allegedly practicing Sharia Law have systematically and unlawfully removed themselves from Nigeria and its Constitution without the Nigerian government questioning their action, adding that Biafra agitation for self determination should equally not be questioned by Nigerian government and its people. Nigeria, India partner on energy security

2019/15/02 – Nigeria and the Republic of India have pledged to work more closely to enhance energy security of both countries.

Nigeria – Petroleum industry records 95% of nuclear licenses – NNRA

2018/08/12 – The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) on Monday said that 95% of the nuclear licenses it has issued are for the petroleum industry.

UAE, Nigeria seeking stronger bilateral ties

2018/05/11 – Fahad Mohammed Obaid Al Tafaq, the new UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, has met here with Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the Nignerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways of bolstering bilateral ties between the two friendly nations and exchange views on a range of issues of mutual interest.While welcoming the new diplomat, the Nigerian minister affirmed that he would receive every possible assistance to properly discharge his diplomatic duties of enhancing bilateral tries.

In turn, Ambassador Al Tafaq thanked the minister, emphasising his desire to further consolidate ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

UK to train Nigerian army counterterror squads to fight Boko Haram under new security partnership

2018/08/31 – Britain will train Nigerian army counterterror squads to fight against Boko Haram under a new security partnership.

The plans will see UK armed forces training full fighting units for the first time, with the aim of equipping them to also tackle Islamic State West Africa (a splinter group from Boko Haram).
