Seven Ukrainian sailors captured amid pirate attack on vessel off Africa
23/03/2020 – Seven Ukrainian sailors from the MSC Talia F container ship, flying the flag of Madeira, Portugal, have been captured by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea, off the coast of Africa.
The vessel was heading from the port of Lomé (Togo) to the port of Libreville (Gabon), the Seafarers journal.com said on March 22.
There were 17 crew members on board. During the attack, the pirates captured seven sailors, all of them are reportedly Ukrainian nationals.
There is no further information about the captives. The vessel continued its voyage, the publication said.

African leaders in Togo to help fight fake drug menace
18/01/2020 -Seven African leaders are in Lome, capital of Togo, as a summit against fake drugs kicked off on Friday (January 17). The two-day summit is under the aegis of the Brazzaville Foundation.
It is the first time African heads of state are gathering on the issue of fake drugs on the continent which continues to plague especially sub-Saharan Africa. Nigeria warns Togo and Niger of power cuts
03/01/2020 – Nigeria has threatened to cut electricity supply to neighbours Togo and Niger over a $16 million debt as the country’s power utilities grapple with capital deficits.

26/12/2019 – Le Bénin et le Togo ont signé lundi après-midi à Agoué, à une centaine de kilomètre de Cotonou, un accord-cadre de coopération transfrontalière et un mémorandum de coopération sécuritaire, a rapporté mardi le quotidien béninois La Nation.Selon cette même source, les deux documents de la coopération bénino-togolaise ont été paraphés par le ministre béninois des Affaires étrangères Aurélien Agbénonci et son homologue togolais Robert Dussey.
