ISIS militants in Libya pledge allegiance to new leader
16/11/2019 – ISIS Libya pledged Friday allegiance to the new leader of the terrorist group Abu Ibrahim Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi after the killing of the ringleader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

Libyan Interior Minister refutes rumors about dialogue between Misurata and Haftar
27/08/2019 – The rumors about a dialogue between leaders of armed factions in the city of Misurata and Khalifa Haftar and his General Command in east Libya are just untrue and ‘daydreams’, said the Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha.
Bashagha spoke to reporters over the weekend and denied that such news is of any truth, adding that Misurata has sacrificed the most since 2011 revolution against Gaddafi and up to all the fighting for Libya, including defeating ISIS terrorists in Sirte. US gives control center to Niger for Boko Haram operations
2019/04/02 – The United States turned over a communications and operations center to the Niger army to help the African nation battle Boko Haram, a statement said.
The planning and operations control center, worth $16.5 million (€14.4 million), is designed to help Niger forces synchronize its operations through improved communications, U.S. Ambassador Eric Whitaker said during the handover ceremony on Monday, February 4. Morocco’s BCIJ Has Dismantled 57 Terrorist Cells Since 2015
2018/12/11 – Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) has dismantled 57 terror cells since its creation in 2015.
Since the beginning of 2018, BCIJ has dismantled eight terror cells. The BCIJ dismantled 9 cells in 2017, 19 in 2016, and 21 in 2015.

Specter of jihadism continues to haunt Maghreb
2018/12/11 – The jihadist threat is not new to the Maghreb. However, the fallout of the 2011 Arab uprisings has fundamentally altered the political and security environment of North African countries. While states such as Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia witnessed an increase in deaths from jihadist attacks, others like Algeria and Morocco experienced a reduced impact. Despite differences, the threats are persistent and numerous, including local jihadi cells that range from the already settled to the residual to those burgeoning into external groups that operate in the Sahel, such as the well-established al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The mutual lack of trust and cooperation in counterterrorism and security among Maghreb countries further complicates countering such threats.
