12/01/2021 – Niger’s Air Force has officially taken delivery of a C-130H Hercules transport aircraft from the United States.

It was accepted in a ceremony on 4 January at Air Base 101 in Niamey attended by the United States Secretary of the Air Force Barbara Barrett, Ambassador Eric Whitaker, Nigerian Minister of National Defence Issoufou Katambe, and Nigerien Armed Forces Chief of Staff, General Salifou Mody. Niger/Agadez : désarmement d’ex-rebelles toubou après leur reddition dans le nord

2018/12/02 – Les autorités du Niger ont présidé lundi dans le Nord une cérémonie de désarmement de rebelles de l’ethnie minoritaire toubou, qui ont négocié leur reddition la semaine passée, selon les autorités locales.

« La cérémonie de remise d’un important arsenal de guerre est actuellement en cours à Dirkou (nord) et concerne une bonne centaine de combattants du Mouvement pour la justice et la réhabilitation du Niger (MJRN) », a dit à l’AFP un haut fonctionnaire de la région d’Agadez (nord). The U.S. Is Building a Drone Base in Niger That Will Cost More Than $280 Million by 2024

2018/08/23 – A U.S. drone base in a remote part of West Africa has garnered attention for its $100 million construction price tag. But according to new projections from the Air Force, its initial cost will soon be dwarfed by the price of operating the facility — about $30 million a year. By 2024, when the 10-year agreement for use of the base in Agadez, Niger, ends, its construction and operating costs will top a quarter-billion dollars — or around $280 million, to be more precise.
