2018/11/12 – Belarus-Sudan interregional cooperation needs to be taken to a higher level, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir on 11 December, BelTA has learned.
“Interregional cooperation should play a serious role. We believe that cooperation between Belarusian regions and Sudanese states needs to be carried forward to a higher level,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
Belarus encourages business circles of the two countries to take part in various business forums and exhibitions held in Sudan and Belarus. Such events open up new opportunities and enable people to stay more aware of doing business conditions in two states.
According to Vladimir Andreichenko, economic relations are the necessary foundation. The states also need to build relationships in other areas. Belarusian MPs are ready for closer cooperation in the field of education in particular. Belarus offers quality education, both higher and vocational, which is important given the good prospects for setting up joint assembly plants. “We are ready to provide assistance in this regard both in your state and in Belarus,” the chairman of the House of Representatives added. Belarus also expects an increase in visitors. Many those who come to Belarus combine recreation and treatment.
“Your visit and yesterday’s talks reconfirm the fact that Sudan is a strategic partner for Belarus not only in Africa but also in the Arab world in general. I think you have seen that Belarus is also a reliable partner, a true friend of Sudan,” stressed Vladimir Andreichenko.
Vladimir Andreichenko also praised inter-parliamentary cooperation. The two states have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation, set up parliamentary working groups, and have been actively working in the international arena. With the assistance of Sudanese MPs, Belarus is doing its best to establish contacts with the Pan-African Parliament.
According to Vladimir Andreichenko, both the parliament and the government of Belarus will make every effort to implement all the reached agreements. The chairman of the House of Representatives is confident that the current visit will open up new prospects.
