2018/09/25 – The federal government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Niger on how to curtail Boko Haram terrorists. The agreement was reached yesterday when the nation’s minister of defence Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali visited the President of Niger Muhammadu Issoufou at Presidential Palace Niamey. The public relations officer to the minister of Defence Col. Tukur Gusau in a statement said the minister was in Niger to strengthen the existing cooperation between both countries in the fight against the terrorist group. “The two countries signed agreement on how to curtail Boko Haram terrorism and cross boarder crimes,” he said. The statement said the President of Niger, Muhammadu Issoufou hailed the mutual cooperation between Nigeria and Niger.
Issoufou, however, lauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts for providing good leadership in the sub-region which has led to the successes recorded in the fight against insurgency.
