Iran/Niger – Rouhani Calls for Expansion of Iran-Niger Ties

2018/08/05 – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his Nigerien counterpart Mahamadou Issoufou called for broadening of mutual cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.
« I hope that the relations between the two countries would further develop in all fields, » Rouhani said in his message on Saturday congratulating President Issoufou on Niger’s Independence Day.
The Iranian president also congratulated the Nigerien nation and government on the occasion of their Independence Day, and expressed hope that ties between Tehran and Abuja would further develop.
« I extend congratulations to Your Excellency and Nigerien nation, as you celebrate 58th Independence Day, » President Said addressing his Nigerien counterpart.
Independence Day in the Republic of Niger is commemorated on August 3, marking the nation’s independence from France in 1960. Since 1975, it is also Arbor Day, as trees are planted across the nation to aid the fight against desertification.
