Spanish Air Force sends a second C295 to Senegal

28/07/2020 – The Spanish Air Force has sent a second C295 aircraft to Dakar, Senegal, to support pace and security missions in the area.

The aircraft left Getafe, Spain, on 15 July to join a first aircraft that arrived there in March this year. The aircraft support the United Nations missions in the Central African Republic (Minusca) and Mali (Minusma) as well as the French-led Operation Barkhane. Iran, Senegal review oil, energy, agriculture coop.

18/07/2020 – During the meeting, the two sides discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of oil, gas, and energy.

The holding of the fifth meeting of the Iran-Senegal Joint Commission as well as the program of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of official relations between the two countries were among the topics discussed during the meeting of Dehshiri and Makhtar Cisse on Friday.

Dehshiri also met and held talks with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment Moussa Balde on Thursday.

The two sides reviewed the development of agricultural cooperation between Iran and Senegal.

Senegal builds military camp near Mali boundary to deal with ‘cross-border threats’

17/07/2020 – Senegal on Tuesday began building a military camp near its border with violence-torn Mali to address « cross-border threats (and) trafficking », the defence ministry said.

Senegal / Mali : CMEC to build Gourbassi hydroelectric dam in Senegal/Mali

01/07/2020 – The Chinese company China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has been awarded a contract worth about 243 million euros (about 160 billion CFA francs) to carry out the Gourbassi hydroelectric development project on the Falémé River, on the Senegal-Malian border. The project is initiated by the Senegal River Basin Development Organization (OMVS). It will help improve access to water and electricity in Senegal and Mali. Dakar, a “White” Queen of West Africa Drug Trafficking

24/05/2020 – As a strategic port, Dakar has become a true regional transport hub for the Senegalese economy. Drug dealers also want to use the port to export drugs to Europe, despite the risks involved.

From January to April 2020, the Senegalese Navy and customs reported the confiscation of 6 tonnes of hashish and 120 kilograms of cocaine during raids on the high seas as well as in the port of Dakar. Impressive raids were also carried out in 2019, when the number of potent drugs seizures sharply increased. As a result of six major operations, at least 2,079 kilograms of cocaine were confiscated.

BP confirms gas resources offshore Mauritania, Senegal

19/12/2019 – UK-based oil and gas company BP has confirmed the potential of gas resources during its three-well drilling campaign offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

Coopération de Défense France-Togo: Détachement d’instruction opérationnelle du 19 au 29 août 2019

19/09/2019 – Du 19 au 29 août 2019, huit spécialistes en artillerie de l’unité de coopération régionale (UCR) des éléments français au Sénégal (EFS), ont armé à Lomé un détachement d’instruction opérationnelle au profit de dix-neuf stagiaires, sous-officiers ou militaires du rang gradés, provenant de la batterie de canons de 105 HM2 du régiment de soutien et d’appui (RSA) ainsi que de la batterie de lance-roquettes multiples du régiment commando de la garde présidentielle (RCGP) des forces armées togolaises.
