21/07/2020 – The Portuguese Air Force has sent a C295 cargo aircraft to the United Nations mission in Mali (Minusma) where it has taken over transport duties from Denmark.
The Portuguese Air Force said the aircraft began operations with Minusma on 15 July after a handover ceremony from the Danish Air Force. Denmark has contributed to Minusma since 2014 and has three times provided a C-130J transport aircraft for the mission (2014, 2017 and 2019/2020). 21/07/2020 – The United States has handed over 28 armoured vehicles, ten trucks, eight water tankers and other equipment to Chad’s military as part of continued support for its anti-terrorism efforts in the Sahel.
The United States Embassy in Chad said it handed over the vehicles on 3 July. It said the materiel was worth $8.5 million and will go to Chad’s Special Anti-Terrorism Group (SATG), which contributes to the G5 Sahel force comprising Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, and Chad. 18/07/2020 – During the meeting, the two sides discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of oil, gas, and energy.
The holding of the fifth meeting of the Iran-Senegal Joint Commission as well as the program of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of official relations between the two countries were among the topics discussed during the meeting of Dehshiri and Makhtar Cisse on Friday.
Dehshiri also met and held talks with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment Moussa Balde on Thursday.
The two sides reviewed the development of agricultural cooperation between Iran and Senegal.

14/07/2020 – Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey confirmed the loan, plus a three-week training package, for elite soldiers of the Estonian Armed Forces.
The loan will equip Estonian troops as they join the international fight against Islamic terrorism in the Sahel region of Africa, a further example of the UK’s strong partnership with one of its closest NATO allies. 14/07/2020 – The son of Mali’s embattled President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, a target of popular anger in the fragile West African state, resigned as chair of the parliament’s defence committee on Monday.
Karim Keita left the role as the government faces a growing protest movement, sparked by the outcome of parliamentary elections in March and April, but whose underlying causes include discontent over its handling of Mali’s jihadist insurgency. 09/07/2020 – At least eight soldiers in western Chad were killed when their vehicle struck a landmine laid by suspected jihadists, security sources and a local official said Thursday.
