Libya – Haftar drones target Al-Qardabiya Base in Sirte

05/10/2019 – Khalifa Haftar’s airforce, backed by France, Egypt and UAE targeted Al-Qardabiya Base, in Sirte, on Thursday, Spokesman for the Protection Force of Sirte, Taha Hadid confirms.

No casualties were reported, but the strike did cause material damage to the buildings, he explained in a press statement.

The force stressed that it will continue to operate security patrols in the vicinity of the city, in order to ensure security and control over the region.

The U.S. Is Building a Drone Base in Niger That Will Cost More Than $280 Million by 2024

2018/08/23 – A U.S. drone base in a remote part of West Africa has garnered attention for its $100 million construction price tag. But according to new projections from the Air Force, its initial cost will soon be dwarfed by the price of operating the facility — about $30 million a year. By 2024, when the 10-year agreement for use of the base in Agadez, Niger, ends, its construction and operating costs will top a quarter-billion dollars — or around $280 million, to be more precise.
