2019/31/01 – Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) met with Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj, the Chairman of the Presidential Council and Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya, at his residence, Kramář’s Villa, in Prague, on Wednesday.
According Vlada.cz, Babiš and Sarraj discussed the current political situation in Libya, illegal migration into Europe and matters of national security, including terrorism. Sarraj’s visit is the first, by a Libyan leader since 1989 and he was accompanied by Tahir Sijal, the Foreign Minister.
Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček (ČSSD) also attended the meeting.

2018/01/10 – The Czech Republic will open an embassy in Mali as of January 1, 2019, the Czech Foreign Ministry announced on its web page citing a decision by the Czech government.
The embassy in Bamako should play a key role in strengthening cooperation in the field of security, increasing the Czech presence in military and civilian missions aimed at stabilizing the Sahel region and contribute to the development of mutual economic cooperation.

2018/02/24 – EU representatives, members of the African Union and UN officials are meeting in Brussels to discuss the possibility of increasing aid to the Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, and Niger ) in order to help stem the migrant crisis, fight terrorism and people smuggling.
