09/07/2020 – Turkey has issued a navigational telex reserving an area for military exercises in the Mediterranean, Yeni Şafak said.
The exercises will take place in three different regions, named Barbaros, Turgut Reis and Çaka Bey by the Turkish army, off the Libyan coast, it said on Tuesday.
The exercises come as tensions grow in the eastern Mediterranean due to the conflict in Libya, and Turkey’s dispute with Cyprus and Greece over offshore hydrocarbon resources.
Turkish military carried out manoeuvres in the Mediterranean on June 11, with eight naval ships and 17 fighter jets participated in eight hours of exercises.
