03/07/2020 – The Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazwani, called for putting the solution to the Libyan crisis among the priorities of the Sahel coalition, because its repercussions directly affect the African Sahel countries. « Al-Ghazwani » called in a speech during a summit between the African Sahel states and France that the solution to the Libyan crisis should be among the priorities of the Sahel Support Coalition, stressing that it is the reason for the deterioration of security in the Sahel because it leads to the growth of extremist groups in the Sahel countries. The Mauritanian president considered, according to what was reported by the official Mauritanian news agency, Wednesday, that the progress made, despite its symbolism and the fact that it holds great hopes, remains deficient in the face of the size of the challenges that must be raised, « warning against violent extremism in its various forms in many areas of the group of five in the Sahel is expanding disturbingly into new areas. This summit was devoted to follow up the implementation of the « Bo » summit road map for the five coastal states and France six months ago in southwest France. The Nouakchott Summit, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, brought together the leaders of Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad. Representatives from the United Nations and the African and European Unions also participated in the summit.
